Business Law

The US Supreme Court has been making big news for a long time, with decisions upholding the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare), finding a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, and ending mandatory fair share fees in public sector unions. For 40 points of extra credit, read one of the Supreme Court cases linked below, and write a 3-4 page (double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman, 1-inch margin) essay about it (please make sure to write at least 3 full pages). These cases all deal with business in some manner (sorry, you won’t get to air your deeply held convictions about Roe v. Wade!). There’s no real format necessary – I just want to know what you think about it. What did you learn? Do you agree with the court? Why or why not? Do you find the case difficult to read? Does it make sense? If you need to use outside sources to help you understand the case, that’s fine, but please actually read the entire case.
In fact, to receive credit, you must include the following sentence somewhere in your response: “I [insert your name] certify, pursuant to the ethical guidelines contained in the University of Illinois Student Code, that I read the entire case of [insert name of Supreme Court case here] and I have not copied any part of this paper from any source.”
