Communication is a vital tool to have in business and personally. As human resource professionals, you will communicate continuously with many people, including management, employees and consultants. One area of communication that can be both effective and detrimental is communicating through emails and texts. Because HR professionals often work with people, they may deal with different emotions communicated by others through emails and texts. So, what do you do if you receive a hostile email or text? Two words: Stay calm!

Please click on the link above to access the video that provides communication tips on how to deal with hostile emails (and texts). About 3 1/2 minutes into the video, there is a long pause, so dont stop viewing it. Wait until the entire video has completed. The video is approximately 7 minutes long.

Extra Credit Assignment (Worth 30 points): Once you view the video, write one thing that you have learned from the speaker (please limit to only one learning topic). Also, explain one thing (not more than 1) you can do to communicate effectively with others through emails and texts.

Your answer should be written in a full paragraph (about 4 to 5 full sentences).
