According to my worldview the human life is sacred and of the utmost value, a human being is created in the Image of God, and we should always treat everyone with the highest of value no matter what the situation may be. Humanity is God’s greatest creation and what better way for us to know how special we are when God himself created us in his own image.
As for how my worldview affects my stance on the controversial issues noted in this weeks questions, this is where it gets difficult to make a stance fully one way or the other. Do I believe that a woman should be able to just walk into a clinic and have an abortion because she wanted to? No, I dont believe that. Every individuals dignity must be protected. Children are a heritage from the Lord, (psalm 127:3). Abortion is cruel and a sin if done for the sake of not wanting a baby, but there are other times when abortion is done because the mother is in danger of her life because of medical conditions, such as ectopic pregnancy that cannot survive outside the womb. Stem cell research is also an interesting topic. I think when this type of scientific research is being used for medical purposes in a positive manner to find cures for diseases, etc. that it should be allowed and considered appropriate. If these types of research are harming life in anyway, that is wrong, and it should not be allowed. Designer babies done to prove that babies can be made without the hand of God. God made it possible to say where there is a sperm and an ovum an embryo is formed. Humans cannot undo what God has already done. (Meilaender 2013).
