Content Presentation Using a three-point thesis statement, write about your
relationship with food. The essay should present
information from the films screened for this module
and any information from assigned or personal
reading. The first essay should be five (5) to seven (7)
paragraphs in length. Begin with a general discussion
of your theme. Then, reveal the problem or
challenge. Finish the introduction with a three-
pronged thesis. The body paragraphs should contain
evidence (support) for the topic sentences it
supports. The conclusion must present a cohesive
synthesis that also supports your thesis.

Thesis Your thesis statement should present a reasoned, well-
thought, well-structured position on some aspect of
your relationship with food. The thesis must be well-
organized, clearly stated, and strongly supported with
information and sources.

Synthesis Your synthesis should revisit your position and the
high points of your discussion. You should examine
the good and bad points of both sides and whether
some collaboration or merger of ideas would be
beneficial.

Conclusion The conclusion revisits the thesis, incorporates the
synthesis, and ends with a profound summative
statement about the topic.

Support Sources Sources should be the films, readings, and other
information from essays, newspapers, or magazines
you want to share. Sources should not be general.
Present all sources as in-text citations and list them on
the Works Cited page of your essay.
