Course and Program Specific Policies

Attendance and Participation

It is the policy of the University that students are required to participate every week in either modality (onsite, online, hybrid) by reviewing all the required material posted on Moodle for this course and by submitting or completing the weekly assignments by their due dates. This includes lectures, discussion post, written assignments, and quizzes.

At SSU more than four absences (including excused absences) in a course is considered excessive. Students who have more than four absences in a class will receive a failing grade (“F”).

Absences are counted from the first official meeting of the class regardless of the date of a student’s enrollment.

Discussion Forums

The Discussion Board is designed to create class dialogue. Participation in the Discussion Board is part of your attendance/participation and helps to demonstrate student knowledge of course content. Each Discussion Board post will be assessed using a rubric.

Discussion Board Requirements:

Discussion posts must be completed during the week they are assigned, posts made before or after the week they are due will not be considered.

For each discussion, you must submit an initial response that includes connection to the course content and your research and must include a minimum of one citation and reference used for the post.

Late submission will receive zero points.

For each discussion you must submit a minimum of two responses to your peers or instructor by Sunday.

Include supporting evidence in all your post

Discussion Forums

For online classes

The initial response is due on Wednesday by 11:59pm each week.

The response posts are due on Sunday by 11:59pm each week.
