3. Studied at Louvain and Le Saulchoir under Congar and
Chenu
4. University professor in Belgium and Holland
5. During Vatican II, his theological lectures in Rome were
very influential
6. His commitment to correlating Christian tradition with
human experience can be seen
in his writings on sacramental theology, the church/world
relationship, revelation and
the mystery of God, Christology, ministry and other areas
7. Emphasis on experience is especially evident in his
rethinking of Christology
