You are the Athletic Director for a University. Answer the following scenario questions based on the concepts from Chapter 5.

You hear that the veterans on the boys wrestling team are planning to haze new members of their team. In the past, hazing by some of the teams has gotten out of hand. Create an alternative to hazing that will help team members bond in positive ways without engaging in demeaning or risky actions that you will instruct the Wrestling Coach to implement. Outline your plan and explain the differences between what you are proposing and hazing as it is defined in the chapter.

You are concerned with the number of athletes on the track-and-field team who are being treated by your sport medicine staff for injuries due to over training. The coach tells you that she demands 110 percent from all her athletes and expects them to train and compete through pain and injury. You could develop a rule that a doctor outside the athletic department must make the decision on whether an athlete will play with pain and injury. Explain what you would do.
