SOCI WEEK 6

Prompt:
1) Now that you all have been thinking about intersectionality for five weeks, I want to ask a more open ended question: In the popular discourse we talk a lot about the pay gap and the lack of representations of women in high positions in government and the corporate world. What additional perspectives does the Amott & Matthaei article add to how we can think about gender inequality/oppression in our country?

AND

2) In my week 2 lecture, I discussed what Kimberle Crenshaw described as “structural intersectionality” which looks at factors outside of identity. (Please go back and review the lecture as a reminder if you need to.) In the Flippen article about immigrant Latina women, they discuss the structural position of the women. How does this article illustrate structural intersectionality, and what are the structures they are focused on?
